Summary

The ADRA Country Director in Myanmar is responsible for providing strategic leadership and effective management of the country office so that it fulfils its purpose as the humanitarian and development agency of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Country Director reports to the ADRA Myanmar Board and is responsible for all aspects of the operations of ADRA in Myanmar.

Operational Process Roles

GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Lead governance and management processes for ADRA Myanmar. Will usually include:

  • Acting as Secretary for the ADRA Myanmar Board and Chair of the ADRA Myanmar ADCOM;
  • Understanding and acting on the financial and programming position of ADRA Myanmar;
  • Overseeing compliance processes in ADRA Myanmar for AAL governance standards;

NETWORKING AND RELATIONSHIPS

Lead networking and relationship building efforts by ADRA Myanmar with a focus on engagement with the ADRA network, broader SDA church, Government and other program partners: Will usually include:

  • Participating in strategically selected Union/Mission meetings and events;
  • Liaising and building relationships with officials from relevant Government offices;
  • Representing ADRA Asia at relevant meetings, conferences or events.

STRATEGY AND PLANNING

Lead implementation of ADRA’s Strategic Framework in Myanmar by leading the development and implementation of a strategic plan. Will usually include:

  • Managing participation by relevant stakeholders in country office strategic planning;
  • Leading the country office team in implementation of the strategic plan;
  • Reporting to the Board and Regional Office on progress against the strategic plan.

PERSONNEL AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

Lead processes for the recruitment, performance management, professional development and mentoring of ADRA personnel in Myanmar. Coordinating with other members of the ADRA Myanmar team and Board when appropriate. Will usually include:

  • Leading and managing (or overseeing) the recruitment process for all personnel;
  • Leading and managing (or overseeing) the orientation process for all personnel;
  • Ensuring that succession plans are in place for key personnel;
  • Leading and managing (or overseeing) performance management processes for all personnel;
  • Ensuring all personnel are accessing professional development opportunities.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Take overall responsibility for the Safety and Security of ADRA Myanmar personnel. Will usually include:

  • Ensuring that ADRA Myanmar Safety and Security Plan is updated and implemented;
  • Ensuring that a Safety and Security Focal Point Person is assigned for ADRA Myanmar.

The employee is expected, as a minimum requirement, to be familiar with:

  • ADRA HR Manual;
  • ADRA Finance Manual;
  • ADRA Safety and Security Plan;
  • ADRA Code of Ethics;
  • ADRA Governance Manual;
  • ADRA Licensing and Accreditation Standards.
